Ask a Librarian / Research Consultation
In addition to the service that we provide in person at the Reference Desk, we offer the opportunity to ask basic reference questions via telephone (248-370-4426), e-mail (ref@oakland.edu) or instant messaging. For more involved questions or for assistance with research, please call in advance to schedule personal consultations with librarians. Whatever your research needs, you’ll have our undivided attention for as long as is needed to answer your question.
Assistive Technology Equipment
On the main floor of the library, we have three Special Services rooms that contain assistive technology equipment provided by Oakland University’s Department of Disability Services. The equipment includes Telesensory and Chroma Plus magnification machines and Zoom Text screen magnification software, Kurzweil Reading Edge, and a Braille printer with DECTalk Express voice synthesizer. Keys to these rooms may be requested at the Circulation Desk.
Nearly all computers in the library are wheelchair accessible.
Materials Retrieval
Circulation staff can provide assistance in retrieving library materials for patrons with disabilities.
** Please remember that we can better assist you if you call in advance to arrange for reference or retrieval services. **
